Notes on Novant Family Health Football Jamboree at Northern Guilford with NG, Ragsdale and Eastern Guilford on hand

Final for those of us that were keeping score:
Northern Guilford 20, Ragsdale 14….
NG-C.J. Freeman 3 yard run….Ethan Reeder kick was good
NG-Max Maynard 18 yard TD pass from Miles Timmons…Ethan Reeder kick was good
NG-Tucker Hord 35 yard TD pass from Miles Timmons…Kick failed
RAGS-Jarius Drayton 61 yard TD run…Greyson Collins kick good
RAGS-Jarius Drayton 66 yard TD run…Greyson Collins kick good

Tucker Hord had a 48 yard pass reception that set up C.J. Freeman’s TD run….Hord also had a pick on defense for Northern Guilford…Interview with Hord in the post game will be available here at the site in the morning…

Northern used three different quarterbacks with Timmons at #1, Chris Shaw at #2 and Cody Knight the #3….Kyle Quasie very impressive for Northern as a power running back…Senior Tristan Simmons WR/DB/K out about another 5 weeks with a broken collarbone for NG…

Braxton Boykins(#26) a team leader and he had a busy night at DB for Ragsdale…Bryce Craig and Dominique Parker active as receivers for Ragsdale, while Drayton and Malachi Maness were the top runners by far for Ragsdale…

Tucker Hord, Max Maynard and Kyle Quashie all going both ways at times for Northern…Myles Timmons looks to have a good handle on the QB spot for NG, but Ragsdale at QB is right now a work in progress….

Eastern Guilford saw success with both Brian Barr and Dominique Graves at QB, with James Artis the RB that got most of the workload of Wildcat carries…Isaiah Finerty caught two TD passes from Brian Barr and the PAT kicks failed….Artis also had a TD run for EG and again, the PAT kick was no good….

For North Forsyth, the Eastern Guilford opponent, while I was watching, Anthony Hicks took off on a TD run on a QB keeper…Hicks was quick and his passes were thrown toward and to Nie Ferguson and Derrrick Williams…

The short passes were working for North Forsyth, but the long passes were not a positive factor…EG did get the long ball gooing with Barr to Finerty on a pass that covered around 40 yards…EG got work from Brian Barr on defense in addition to what he was doing on offense…Barr has a chance to be a breakout star for EG this season and Graves is not far behind Barr in the running for the quarterback position….

EG returns a few big linemen up front and one of those is Will Shields, I do believe….

EG does not have big numbers in quanity of players, but they do have quality and to still have that quality after losing Jarius Morehead, Khyree Lundy, Jacob Finerty, Addison Benton and others, that still says a lot for Eastern Guilford and the job that Coach Doug Robertson is doing….
