Coach Hill Adds Transfer Mactas to Elon Golf Roster

ELON, N.C. – Elon University men’s golf coach Don Hill has announced that Jared Mactas (Woodcliff Lake, N.J. / Pascack Hills) has transferred to the Phoenix program after two seasons at Lafayette University. Mactas will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

“We are excited to announce that Jared will be joining our golf program beginning this fall”, said Hill. “Jared, a three-time state champion in New Jersey, has had success at all levels of golf including winning the Carter Cup in 2012 and carding nine top-25 finishes in two years of college golf.”

Following his freshman campaign at Lafayette, Mactas earnd second-team All-Patriot League honors after tying for eighth at the conference championship.

Prior to heading to Lafayette, Mactas won three New Jersey state titles, two state sectional crowns and one group state championship as a prep. The four-time letterwinner collected first-team all-league accolades four times. Mactas also was named All-Bergen County four times and All-New Jersey twice. He was honored as the 2013 North Jersey Player of the Year and won the 2012 Carter Cup at Baltusrol, shooting rounds of 68 and 70. Mactas also captured the IJGT Major Championship at the Architects Club.

Mactas has had some impressive showings in 2015 amateur events. He tied for third at the 60th Ike Championship at Friars Head, tied for fourth at the New Jersey Amateur and placed fifth at the Brae Burn Invitational. He tied for third during the stroke play portion of the 113th Metropolitan Amateur at Baltusrol before bowing out of the tournament in the round of 16 in match play. He also tied for 21st at the Eastern Amateur and for 35th at the New York State Open at Bethpage Black.
