Bocock Announces Addition of Hoover to Elon Softball Roster

ELON, N.C. – Elon University head softball coach Kathy Bocock announced on Monday, Aug. 17, the addition of transfer Kristin Hoover to join the Phoenix for 2015-16. Hoover arrives after spending her freshman season at the University of California last year.

“We’re really excited about Kristin joining our program,” said Bocock. “Coming from the Pac-12 and a great academic university, she has the experience of performing at the highest level of softball and academics. She’s a true student-athlete who brings lots of intangibles to the table. I know she will help us continue on our path to strive for CAA Championships.”

An outfielder from Tampa, Fla., Hoover appeared in seven games with the Golden Bears last season. Prior to California, Hoover was a four-year letterwinner at Berkeley Prep and served as team captain from her sophomore to her senior year. She was also named the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) District 15 Class 4A Player of the Year in 2013 and a member of the 2013 All-State First Team and Academic All-State First Team.

Hoover also played club ball with the Tampa Mustangs, coached by Jeff Conrad and Traci Fisher. She batted .650 in 2013 and .593 in 2012 with the club.

Hoover is the daughter of Kris and Beth Hoover and her father played football at Johns Hopkins. Her grandfathers also played football at UConn and Albright College. She intends to major in exercise science at Elon.

Why Kristin Chose Elon:
“I chose Elon University for the amazing academic opportunities specifically in the field of exercise science and for the chance to play softball at a Division I level closer to home. I cannot wait to play under Coach Bocock and the coaching staff. I’m so fortunate to be a Phoenix!”
