HPU MLAX Adds Transfers Keegan O¹Connor and Jimmy Wyrick

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men’s lacrosse team has added transfers Keegan O’Connor and Jimmy Wyrick to the 2016 roster, head coach Jon Torpey announced Friday.

“We are looking forward to Jimmy and Keegan joining our program,” Torpey said. “Over the first four years of our program’s existence we have received great leadership on and off the field and an extremely hard-working mentality from our transfer student-athletes. We believe both of these young men will carry on that tradition.”

O’Connor, a native of Baltimore, Md., comes to High Point after redshirting during his freshman season at Maryland. O’Connor was a high school classmate of sophomore T Moyer at Boys Latin School of Maryland. The duo helped lead the team to the program’s third undefeated national championship in 2014. O’Connor was the team captain and posted 31 goals and 11 assists to earn Under Armor All-American honors in his senior year. InsideLacrosse.com rated O’Connor the No. 26 player in the 2014 recruiting class.

Wyrick, meanwhile, joins the Panthers after spending two seasons at Syracuse. The defenseman redshirted in 2013 before transferring after the Orange’s 2014 campaign. A native of Round Hill, Va., he helped St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School to three state championships and the program’s first Interstate Athletic Conference title. Wyrick was named First Team All-Virginia after tallying 64 ground balls during the 2012 season.

The two transfers will join a talented 12-man freshman class that was announced earlier this month.
