Elon MBB: CAA Announces 2015-16 Men’s Basketball League Schedule

RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association has announced its 18-game 2015-16 men’s basketball league schedule today, Aug. 24, as the Elon University men’s basketball program beings its second season in the conference. Dates and times are subject to change, as the CAA will announce its full TV package on Oct. 27 at CAA Media Day in Baltimore, Md.

For the second straight year, every conference game will be televised through partnerships with NBCSN, Comcast SportsNet and the American Sports Network, as well as CAA.TV, the conference’s digital network.

The Phoenix will open CAA play at home on Dec. 31 against reigning conference champion Northeastern in Alumni Gym. The Huskies finished last season with a 23-12 overall record and fell to No. 3 Notre Dame in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The two teams split the regular season series in 2014-15, with the Phoenix winning at Alumni Gym 72-65 on Feb. 26, 2015. Two days later, Elon will stay at home to hosts Drexel on Jan. 2.

Elon’s first CAA road game is scheduled for Jan. 7 as it takes on James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va. The Dukes finished in a four-way tie for the best CAA regular season record of 12-6 last year. The maroon and gold then returns home for two consecutive games. Elon will host Hofstra on Jan. 9 before welcoming last season’s No. 3 seed in the CAA Tournament, UNCW, to Alumni Gym on Jan. 14.

Elon travels to Charleston, S.C., on Jan. 16 as the Phoenix takes on the College of Charleston Cougars. The two teams face off again for the second time in the regular season in Alumni Gym on Feb. 13. Elon will follow that game with a trip to Williamsburg, Va., on Jan. 21 for a battle with last season’s CAA regular season co-champion William & Mary.

A home game awaits the Phoenix after the two road games with its second game of the season against the James Madison Dukes on Jan. 23. The Dukes earned a No. 3 seed in the 2015 CAA Tournament.

Elon then takes a trip up north for road games against Hofstra (Jan. 28) and Northeastern (Jan. 30), before opening up February with home matchups against Delaware (Feb. 4) and Towson (Feb. 6).

Following a game at UNCW (Feb. 11), the Phoenix is back at home for round two against College of Charleston (Feb. 13), before hitting the road again for games at Drexel (Feb. 18) and Towson (Feb. 20).

Elon closes out the regular season with a home and away game split. The final home game at Alumni Gym will be against William & Mary on Feb. 25, followed by the final road game of the season on Feb. 27 at Delaware.

The 2015 CAA Men’s Basketball Championship is scheduled for March 4-7 at Baltimore Arena. All 10 league institutions qualify in the CAA Men’s Basketball Championship.
