Jack Speer Joins HPU Men’s Golf Squad

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men’s golf team adds Jack Speer to the 2015-16 roster, head coach Greg Flesher announced Monday.

Speer, a Winston-Salem, N.C. native, joins Davis Kiger as the two members of the 2015 freshmen class.

“Jack will be an asset both on and off the course for High Point,” head coach Greg Flesher said. “As a golfer, he rarely misses a fairway, has great tempo and a very fundamental swing. He makes putts, especially when he has to. He is a very good competitor who works hard on and off the course. I enjoyed watching him make it to the final 16 in the North Carolina match play and he has improved each of the last two seasons.”

The righty help R.J. Reynolds High School win the Central Piedmont Championship in all four of prep his seasons while playing for head coach Lewis Green. Speer finished second in the 2014 Carmel Invitation after posting a bogey-less round. He comes to HPU as a two-time Central Piedmont Conference individual champion and a four-time all-conference selection.

Speer and the rest of the 2015-16 Panthers will open the season on Sept. 20-22 at the Haig Point Intercollegiate in Daufuskie Island, S.C.
