Winner: Thomas Hennigan

Northwest Guilford against Western Guilford (66-25)

Northwest Guilford wide receiver/defensive back Thomas Hennigan had a terrific game against Western Guilford on Friday, August 28th, with 4 TDs (one of which was from an onside kick recovery), 129 receiving yards, and 7 tackles.

Even more important than his outstanding game, Hennigan’s coach, Jared Rolfes, considers him a tremendous leader for the school, on and off the field. “He is a true leader by definition in the classroom, in the community and on the playing field,” says Rolfes. “He will often take sacrificial steps to help his teammates or those around him, even if it means his team or unit is not first or equipped to be first. He is full of energy, exciting, and explosive on the playing field. His teachers love having him in class, as he is timely, involved, organized, and one of the better students in his class. He takes many high level courses and plays multiple sports. In our weight lifting class he volunteers to help a special needs student every day without being asked.”
