Elon Men’s Soars to No. 8 in NSCAA National Rankings

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men’s soccer team soared to its highest national ranking ever as the Phoenix earned a No. 8 spot in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Top 25 Poll on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

NSCAA Rankings

After sitting at No. 20 in the NSCAA rankings last week, the Phoenix climbed 12 spots after earning wins at then No. 7 Wake Forest and versus Drexel in its Colonial Athletic Association opener this past week. Elon earned a clean sheet versus the Demon Deacons, 1-0, before completing the week with a 3-1 victory over the Dragons to extend its program-best start to 7-0-0. The Phoenix is one of only two teams in the NSCAA Top 25 Poll that has yet to receive a loss or draw along with No. 1 Creighton (6-0-0).

The Phoenix also has its highest national ranking in a few of the other major soccer polls. Elon is ranked at No. 11 in the TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 25 Poll and No. 13 in the College Soccer News Top 30 standings.

Elon has a key road contest tonight at South Carolina with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. at Stone Stadium.
