College Women’s Soccer Final – Guilford 11, Hollins 0

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College’s Kelli Uresti tallied three goals and two assists in Guilford College’s Wednesday afternoon Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rout of Hollins University, 11-0.

Uresti’s goals came in the 28th, 48th, and 58th minutes of the contest as all three goals were at or just inside the top of the 18-yard box. The senior factored in the match’s final four goals, all scored in a 6:51 segment of the second half, where Uresti collected one goal and two assists.

Juliana Evans-Anfom tallied two goals, one for each half. The freshman earned her first goal on a breakaway in the 16th minute for the match’s second goal. Uresti fed Evans-Anfom for her first assist thanks to a lead pass to the top of the 18-yard box in the 51st minute.

Cassie Vaughn also tallied two goals and two assists, including the match’s first goal from outside the top of the 18-yard box in the fourth minute. Vaughn connected again on a string of clean passes where Uresti fed Annaliese Rutishauser to the left who then fed Vaughn centrally for the tenth goal of the match in the 53rd minute. Rutishauser and Vaughn connected 3:21 earlier when a shot off of goalie Audrey Haisley was misplayed, leading to Rutishauser booting the ball into the goal.

The Quakers out-shot Hollins, 37-3, and held the edge on corner kicks, 10-1. Guilford tallied eight total assists, which is a single-match school record not touched since September, 2002.

Maggie Albert earned the start and the win in net for the Quakers, playing the first 29:35 of the contest. Cheyenne Grim played the middle 57:43 and made one save while Becca Banks played the final 32:17 of the contest. Haisley made 12 saves in net for Hollins.

The Quakers (3-3-1, 1-1 ODAC) return to action Saturday, hosting Washington and Lee University for a 1 p.m. contest.
