College Women’s Soccer Final – Washington and Lee 5, Guilford 0

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Washington and Lee used a balance attack in earning a wet and breezy Saturday afternoon Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory over host Guilford College, 5-0.

Washington and Lee tallied five goals from five different goal scorers on the afternoon. The Quakers held tight after Tricia Jessee scored a goal from distance in the fifth minute, with the Quakers holding opportunities. The Generals broke through in the 44th minute when Rebecca Dunn played a deflection inside the box to increase the lead.

The Generals scored three goals in a 5:52 span of the early second half to expand their lead, led by Megan Engeland’s goal in the 47th minute to start the run. Rebecca Morris tallied two assists on the afternoon, including an assist on Hollis Tardy’s goal in the 53rd minute.

The Generals out-shot the Quakers, 18-2, and held the edge on corner kicks, 14-0.

Maggie Albert made two saves in net for the Quakers. Cheyenne Grim came into the contest for the final 27:42 of the contest and made one stop. Maggie Nolan earned the win in net for the Generals while Shelbi Hendricks came into the contest with 24:38 remaining.

The Quakers (3-5-1, 1-2 ODAC) return to action Wednesday with a 5 p.m. ODAC contest at Lynchburg College.
