HPU Women’s Golf Finishes 11th At The Lady Pirate Invite

• HPU finished in 11th place at the Lady Pirate Invitational with a score of 952.
• Senior Tan Cheeranont was the Panthers’ top finisher, ending the tournament t-5th (223) to earn all-tournament accolades.
• The Purple & White continue their fall season Oct. 12-13 at the Pinehurst Challenge

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The High Point University women’s golf team finished the third round of play at the Lady Pirate Invitational Tuesday, carding a combined 333 to finish 11th. The Panthers posted a total score of 952 (319-300-333) at the 54-hole event.

Senior Tan Cheeranont notched a 76 in the final round of the Lady Pirate Invitational and finished t-5th with a three round total of 223 (74-73-76). Cheeranont ended the tournament with 37 pars and six birdiesand earned all-tournament team accolades for her efforts.

“Tan came back and played very steady after a shaky start,” said head coach Vici Pate Flesher. “She deserved her honor and I am very proud of her.”

Sophomore Cayla Smith finished the tournament with a combined score of 237 (77-74-86), finishing in 37th. Senior Danielle Fuss carded a third-round score of 82 and finished in a tie for 49th with a 54-hole score of 243 (83-78-82).

Freshman Landrie Grace finished t-63rd, carding a combined score of 249 (85-75-89). Fellow freshman Patty Treevichaphan finished t-83rd with a combined 265 (92-82-91).

Host East Carolina took the first place spot scoring a combined 891 after three-rounds. Old Dominion finished closely behind with a score of 898. Elon (921), William & Mary (929), and Gardner-Webb (934) round out the top-5.

The squad will continue its fall season on Oct. 12 in Pinehurst, N.C., at the Pinehurst Challenge.
