^^^^^James Summers(Page High School) ran for 85 yards on 9 carries and went 9-10 passing for 153 yards, with 2 TD runs and 2 TD passes in East Carolina’s win over SMU today…We used to follow James when he was playing on Thursdays the past three years at Hargrave Military Academy and at Hinds Community College in Mississippi and now it is good to see James with these big game for the ECU Pirates on Saturdays….*****

Scores on the this Saturday:East Carolina 49, SMU 23…Duke 9, Boston College 7…North Carolina 38, Georgia Tech 31…Florida State 24, Wake Forest 16…Washington & Lee 20, Guilford 17…Ferrum 31, Greensboro College 20(Friday night)…East Mecklenburg over Matthews Butler in high school action on Friday night and Butler defeated Western Alamance 45-0 and WA topped Northern Guilford 36-21 and Page beat Northern Guilford and Northern Guilford beat Northwest Guilford and Northwest Guilford beat Southeast Guilford, so means that teams like Page and NWG should match up well now with Matthews Butler…We just had to add that to our Saturday night breakdown….Barry Shuford, the head coach at East Meck., has been coaching in the Charlotte area for over 30 years…
Louisville 20, N.C. State 13…Pitt 17, Virginia Tech 13…N.C. A&T 45, Hampton 31…New Hampshire 37, Elon 14…Western Carolina 33, Presbyterian 21…Appalachian State 31, Wyoming 13…Chowan 27, Winston-Salem State 24…

Rocco Scarfone(Northern Guilford HS) with 2 Tackles and 1 Pass Breakup for East Carolina, while Jonathan White(High Point Central HS) had 1 Tackle for ECU that equaled out to 1/2 Sack and 1/2 TFL….

T.J. Logan(Northern Guilford HS) with 1 carry for 16 yards and 1 kickoff return for 21 yards for UNC…Austin Proehl(Western Guilford HS) had 2 receptions for 33 yards for UNC…Reggie Gallaspy(Southern Guilford HS) with 3 yards on one carry for N.C. State…Tre Lennon(Smith HS) with 2 receptions good for 24 yards for Elon…

  • Don't be surprised said,

What is the logic with Page and NW matching up well with Butler based on the WA results? Butler beat WA by 45 and WA did not have a chance in that good. Yet WA turns around and beats Northern. Northern beat NW and has been completive against al other teams that they played. Thus, Butler making WA look like a middle school team does not add value to NW or even Page have a chance against Butler. I personally believe Page has the weapons and ability to put 30-45 pts on the board each night will serve them well. I don’t think NW only scoring 20-25 pts per game and only winning by a few pts per game will serve them against the Butlers or Pages. The East Forsyth game will show where NW stands against the elite teams. All of that being said I do think this area is being over looked by the Charlotte area teams and media. Charlotte is only focused on Mallard Creek, Butler, Providence and East Meck. I would be surprised to see to schools such as Page, NW, East Forsyth, SE, or a Reagan take it all !

All-in-All, would say it is a round-about way of saying now Butler is a beatable team when you go back through all of the scenarios of who beat who….

East Meck tops Butler and for Page and Northwest that makes Butler beatable….Page and NWG are our only local teams that might see Butler down the road, with Dudley and Southeast both going 4-A and the others mentioned going 4-AA….

We will some key matchups down the road and with the way Page held up against East Forsyth, that gives them some lead-way as they all head down the road….NWG always seems to see teams like Butler, Independence, Richmond County and others early….

Still look out for Mallard Creek, but the other Charlotte teams are becoming more beatable….Charlotte Vance is an intriguing team, but I do believe that they are 4-A and Charlotte Catholic is no slouch and they have yet to lose…

Butler has been without the services of the LeMay kid the past couple of week and few other Butler Bulldogs have been out of the lineup and in the doghouse too, but no reason has been given yet on the reason why they have been missing….

NW will beat East Forsyth this year and win the Conference championship. People need to keep sleeping on NW! NeWBreed!!!!!

  • What! said,

Based on Northwest Guilford, I’m not sure they will have what it takes to get over the EF hump!

  • How and Why said,

Can someone explain why coach did not start Summers? The starter can’t play any longer because he is too concerned with looking over his shoulders for Summers. He threw two INT’s on sat forcing Summers to come in and rescue them. Makes no sense.

  • Andy Durham said,

Based on Coach Ruff’s plan of attack, it seems like he is being as loyal as he can to Kemp, maybe even to a fault, and trying to let the starter prove he can still lead this team to a win…

But in reality it is not who starts, it is who finishes and James Summers is finishing and winning football games for the East Carolina Pirates and we are ALL very proud of the job that he is doing…..

On the high school side, some comment might be better taken, if you took them to school and did not leave them here….Got to support the players and coaches of your teams, they are the ones that are busting their tails for the fans and giving them something to yell about…..

I think NW has what it takes to beat EF this year. Hennigan is a monster and will get his catches against anyone. We just have to get our running game going and keep playing tough on defense
