Guilford College Cross Country Results – Men Claim Division III Victory, Women Second at Hagan Stone Classic

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. – Guilford College claimed the top three eight kilometer times on the men’s Division III side in Saturday’s cool, wet, and windy Hagan Stone Classic. Due to original host, Hagan Stone Park, closing for the weekend, the meet was re-located to Redmon Park in Kernersville, N.C. The men’s claimed 18 points in the Division III race while the women claimed 36 points, finishing second among Division III schools.

Nick Reynolds claimed the fastest Division III time in the race with a time of 29:55.30. The finish would have placed tenth among the Division II field and 23rd in the Division I field.

Trent Evans (Winston-Salem, N.C./R.J. Reynolds) placed right behind Reynolds, finishing with a time of 30:09.60. Caleb Amstutz followed Evans, placing third with a time of 30:20.00.

Rebecca Reyna (Liberty, N.C./Southern Alamance) led the Guilford’s women with a third place finish among Division III schools with a five-kilometer time of 21:41.94. The finish is the sixth-fastest five-kilometer finish in program history. Reyna’s time would have placed fourth in the Division II field and seventh in the junior college field.

Sommer Fanney finished sixth with a time of 22:09.88, 2.3 seconds off of a fifth-place finish. Fanney finished in a pack of Quakers with Tess Styrk (22:19.98) and Elisabeth Marshall (22:37.82) finishing right after Fanney.

Coach Danny Cash’s Quakers return to action Saturday, October 17th in the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Preview at Kernstown Battlefield in Winchester, Va., hosted by Shenandoah University.
