Elon Men’s Tennis Phoenix With Strong Showing at Elon Fall Invitational

ELON, N.C. – Robert Lindgren was crowned champion in singles to lead the Phoenix as the Elon University men’s tennis team wrapped up competition at the Fall Invitational Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

“Overall it was a good performance from our team,” said head coach Michael Leonard. “However tennis seems insignificant with what has happened at USC Upstate. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire athletic department and the families affected by this tragedy.”

Highlights
Lindgren led the way for the Phoenix finishing undefeated in the top flight and top position in singles. He claimed singles tournament champion earning 12 points.

Mario Paccini finished second in singles going undefeated at number two position with 10 points in the second flight.

In doubles play, Alex Crocker and Brett Landau of UNC Asheville won the tournament with 10 points at number one position and in the top flight. Elon’s duo of Chris Humphreys and Petar Tomic came in second, going undefeated in the second flight with eight total points.

In addition for the Phoenix, Felipe Osses Kong also finished undefeated in singles playing at the number three position.
