Women’s Soccer Draws, 0-0, With Huntingdon

MONTGOMERY, AL – The Greensboro College women’s soccer team played their second game in as many days on Sunday afternoon. The Pride faced the Hawks of Huntingdon College on the road in a USA South Athletic Conference matchup and played to a, 0-0 draw.

The Pride outshot the Hawks in the contest by a narrow 17-16 mark. Melanie Raton recorded five shots on goal while Megan Cole recorded four. Hannah Stiles and Amanda Foley also recorded shots on goal.

Brittany Morrison recorded the decision in goal for Greensboro. Morrison stopped all six shots that she faced on the goal frame.

“It was not the result that we wanted today,” stated Head Coach Gus Mota. ” It is really tough when you have three games in four days, with two of them back to back. We are 2-0-1 in the last three games, so overall I am really happy with our girls.”

Men’s Soccer Dominates Huntingdon On Sunday, 6-1

MONTGOMERY, AL – The Greensboro College continued their dominance of late as they won four straight matches. The Pride traveled to take on the Hawks of Huntingdon College on Sunday afternoon and came away with a 6-1 victory.

Isaiah Nji, Robbie Barnes, and Carlos Barragan each scored in the first seven minutes of play to give Greensboro a commanding 3-0 lead,

Just four minutes following the Barragan goal, Scott Fatyol extended the Pride advantage to 4-0 with his second goal of the season.

As the time continued to tick, Huntingdon was able to tally their lone goal of the game to send the game into the intermission period with Greensboro leading 4-1.

In the second half, Shaun Watt scored his ninth goal of the season in the 48th minute before Carlos Barragan scored his second goal of the afternoon, and the matches final goal, to help give Greesnboro the 6-1 victory.

Carlos Barragan recorded a team high five shots in the game while Shaun Watt and Carig Gage recorded three shots. Robbie Barnes, Morgan Stevenson, Scott Fatyol, Isaiah Nji, Nick Tate, and Ryan Mule also recorded shots.

Jamie Payamps picked up the win in goal for Greensboro after making one save.

“The team started quickly again today,” stated Head Coach Tony Falvino. “We are happy to come away with a good result from a tough and physical contest. We are still searching to play a full 90 minutes. Now we move our focus to William Peace on Wednesday afternoon.”

The Pride (6-4-1, 3-0-1 USA South) will return home on Wednesday afternoon to take on the Pacers of William Peace University in another USA South Athletic Conference tilt. Women’s Golf Completes Play At The Pat Clouse Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, OH-The Greensboro College women’s golf team completed play at the 2015 Pat Clouse Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The event was hosted by Wittenberg University at the Spring Field Country Club. The Pride finished the two day event in a tenth place tie out of 14 teams.

Mackenzie Flanagan led the way for Greensboro after completing her 36 holes with a total score of 174. Her mark placed her in a tie for 26th place individually. Her teammate, Allison Killette, finished just two strokes behind her to finish in a 32nd place tie.

Tara Smith and Alexis Gregory also contributed to the overall team score. Both Smith and Gregory finished the even in a tie for 57th with a 36 hole total of 189.

“On the first day we definitely left some shots out there on the course,” stated Assistant Coach Jim Cantamessa. “In the second round, Alexis was able to rebound from a tough first day while Mackenzie and Allison continued to play strong.”
