College Cross Country Results – Guilford Women Ninth, Men Tenth at NCAA Regional Preview

WINCHESTER, Va. – Guilford College’s Sommer Fanney (Burlington, N.C./Williams) ran the fifth-fastest six-kilometer time in program history, leading the women’s squad to a ninth-place finish with 225 points at the NCAA Division III South-Southeast Regional Preview hosted by Shenandoah University at Kernstown Battlefield. The men placed tenth with 272 points.

Fanney’s time of 25:49.5 placed 40th overall and stands fifth all-time in school history, 28 seconds away from the fourth-fastest six-kilometer time. The sophomore finished in a pack where eight runners crossed the finish line in a 22-second span.

Rebecca Reyna (Liberty, N.C./Southern Alamance) joined Fanney in finishing with a fresh top-ten time in school history, placing 47th overall with a time of 26:14.5. The finish stands seventh in school history and is her sixth top-ten all-time finish in six-kilometer races.

Trent Evans (Winston-Salem, N.C./R.J. Reynolds) led the men with a 45th-place finish with a time of 29:19.2. Evans finish at the top portion of a pack whose gap in times was only 18 seconds.

Nick Reynolds finished at the tail end of that pack with Evans, placing 53rd with a time of 29:34.0.

Head Coach Danny Cash’s Quakers rest and prepare for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships, which will be held at Bridgewater College October 31st.
