College Volleyball Finals – Guilford Falls to Randolph-Macon and Virginia Wesleyan

ASHLAND, Va. – League-leading Randolph-Macon College and Virginia Wesleyan College both posted three-set wins over Guilford College Sunday as part of an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) volleyball quad match. The two unbeaten conference rivals meet Wednesday (10/21) in Randolph-Macon’s Crenshaw Gym with the league’s first-place position on the line.

The host Yellow Jackets (18-3, 9-0 ODAC) hit .315 as a team in a 25-17, 25-12, 25-11 victory in the Quakers’ opening match. Courtney Lowers led the hosts with eight kills and Erin Quinn added 19 assists. Samantha Sallade chipped in with a match-high 12 digs. Guilford’s Kelsey Ruehling shared match-high honors with eight kills and added six digs and two blocks. Teammate Casey Davis had six kills and 10 digs.

Virginia Wesleyan (21-6, 9-0 ODAC) won its 12th straight contest with a 25-16, 25-15, 25-16 triumph over Guilford (5-14, 2-6 ODAC). Tiffany Barrett and Doneisha Hall both had seven kills for the Marlins, who served up nine aces. Barrett had three aces and teammate Marin Crowder picked up a match-best 14 digs. Emilee Pierson recorded a double-double with 11 assists and 10 digs.

Guilford’s Davis made a team-high seven kills and also had a match-best 12 digs. Ruehling added six putaways.
