Men’s Soccer Runs Win Streak To Seven

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men’s soccer team held off the Scots of Covenant College 1-0 Monday for the Pride’s seventh straight victory.

The Pride (9-4-1, 6-0-1 USA South) outshot the Scots, 23-3. Shaun Watt scored the game’s lone goal in the 65th minute off an assist by Robbie Barnes.

“Today was a good performance by the boy’s,” Head Coach Tony Falvino said. “Covenant played with a lot of fight, but we have to make the most of our opportunities in front of goal. We are excited for this upcoming weekend as we host Maryville College and Piedmont College.”

Carlos Barragan had a team-high eight shots, while Craig Gage, Robbie Barnes, Scott Fatyol, Warren Washington, and Liam Buckley recorded at least one shot each.

Jamie Payamps recorded two saves.

Women’s Soccer Suffers 3-0 Setback Against Covenant

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women’s soccer team held the Scots of Covenant College to a scoreless first-half tie Monday before going on to lose 3-0.

Caitlyn Cook had a team-high two shots for the Pride, while Meghan Cole, Samara Alba, Samantha Lopez, Gabbriele Edinger, and Melanie Raton recorded one shot each.

Brittany Morrison took the loss in goal for Greensboro.

“It’s about who’s going to make the mental mistake this late in the year,” Head Coach Gus Mota said. “We had three cheap mistakes today that cost us the game. I was really pleased with the way we moved the ball offensively, but we can’t let up bad goals like we did today.”
