College Men’s Soccer Final – Randolph 3, Guilford 0

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Visiting Randolph College responded to a Guilford College first half shutout with three second half goals to claim a Wednesday evening Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest victory, 3-0.

The WildCats (8-3-3, 5-0-3 ODAC) earned a narrow shot advantage over the Quakers (5-9, 2-6 ODAC), 8-5, thanks a late rally of three shots in the final eight minutes in a tight first period. Neither side produced more than two un-answered shots during the frame where both teams traded momentum and the possession advantage.

Randolph responded in the second half when Troy Jurney fed a left side pass to Nate Juth to break the ice in the 56th minute. The WildCats gained distance from the Quakers in the 68th minute when Cristian Irigoyen deflected a ball off of Guilford goalie Eric Hayes in a collision, leaving the goal open for Adam Watson. Travis Brown provided an insurance goal for Randolph in the 77th minute of a header inside the six-yard box from a Julian Khalili corner kick to extend the lead.

Randolph out-shot the Quakers, 20-13, and held the edge on corner kicks, 9-2.

Hayes made eight saves in net for the Quakers before being relieved by Jonathan Kilby for the final 5:37 of the contest. C.J. Stevens stopped three shots for Randolph before being relieved by Austin Collier for the final 6:30 of the contest.

The Quakers wrap up their regular season home schedule Saturday, hosting Bridgewater College for a 7 p.m. ODAC contest inside Appenzeller Field at Armfield Athletic Center.
