College Volleyball Final – Washington and Lee 3, Guilford 0

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Anna Lausberg had 11 kills on .381 hitting, plus 10 digs, in visiting Washington and Lee University’s 3-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) volleyball win at Guilford College Wednesday. The Generals hit .353 as a team in their 25-13, 25-21, 25-15 triumph that improved their overall record to 15-10 (9-1 ODAC).

Lausberg had five kills in the opening set, which saw the Generals take advantage of 13 Guilford errors, including seven hitting. She also served up six straight points, which ballooned an 8-6 Washington and Lee lead into a 14-6 margin.

Guilford (5-15, 2-7 ODAC) took a 4-1 lead in the second set and kept pace with the Generals for most of the way. The set featured 11 of the match’s 17 ties, plus three of five lead changes. The match was tied at 20-20 before the Generals closed out the set on a 5-1 run.

Washington and Lee hit a blistering .476 as a team in the third set, compared to the Quakers .074 hitting percentage. Lausberg had four kills in five attempts and Meg Guignon put down three balls in five attacks with no errors. The Generals also served up four of their nine aces in the final set.

Guignon hit .538 and had seven kills, plus five digs. Shand also finished with seven putaways and hit .357 with three blocks. Elena West contributed 22 assists and five digs, while libero Katie Volk picked up eight Quakers’ attacks.

Kelsey Ruehling’s 10 kills and two service aces paced Guilford. Teammate Casey Davis chipped in eight kills, and five digs. Maile Munro registered 16 assists and Steffi Dutton led the Quakers with eight digs.
