College Men’s Soccer Final – Bridgewater 2, Guilford 1

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Logan McGlynn’s penalty-kick goal in the 77th minute lifted visiting Bridgewater College’s men’s soccer team to a 2-1 comeback win over Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)-rival Guilford College Saturday night.

The Eagles (7-7-1, 4-5 ODAC) rallied from a halftime deficit for their fourth straight win and their fifth victory in six matches. Christian Torres’ 33rd-minute goal from Omar Solis spotted the Quakers (5-10, 2-7 ODAC) to a 1-0 lead that stood until intermission.

Bridgewater’s Connor Henderson tied the game in the 59th minute when he volleyed a headed pass from Ben Lewis past Quakers’ keeper Eric Hayes from close range. Lewis received the ball off a long throw in by Ethan McBryde, who also earned an assist.

Bridgewater maintained the pressure in the evenly matched affair. With just under 24 minutes to play, Lewis was obstructed in the box, which set up McGlynn’s eventual game-winner.

The Quakers’ best scoring opportunity down the stretch in the 81st minute on a Mark Dandanell free kick from about 30 yards out that sailed high of Bridgewater goalie Mark Davis.

Bridgewater outshot the Quakers, 16-13, and had seven of the game’s 11 corners. Hayes made four stops for Guilford and Davis had two saves for Bridgewater.

The Quakers visit league-rival Lynchburg College Tuesday (10/27) at 7:00 p.m.
