Sad news in tonight:Coach Ken Roberts has passed away;Long-time Track and Field man has gone the distance

Ken Roberts, long-time area/Guilford County track and field coach has passed away as of Tuesday night and the loss is being felt all over the state…

Coach Ken, as he was known to many discus and shot put throwers, was in the game for many years and he spent numerous seasons along the track and in the circles at Ragsdale High School…He would work with many of the local kids in their efforts to get better in the disc and shot and his time spent helping track kids improve was not limited to high school and middle school levels…

Coach Ken Roberts worked with many Summer and off-season track and field athletes/programs and this past Summer they held the KEN ROBERTS CHALLENGE at Dudley High School, during early June…

Coach Ken also worked and trained with the High Point Panthers Track and Field Club and he worked along side and competed against coaches like Wayne Jones, Charlie Brown, Mike Mittman, Ron Smith, David Blue, Mick Gallant and many others in our city and county and all over the state for many miles, and many seasons/years…

Gone on a long run and headed into a new direction, the KEN ROBERTS CHALLENGE has really just begun…He will be remembered for helping young track athletes for many years to come….

RIP:Coach Ken Roberts

*****I never got the chance to meet Coach Ken Roberts, but have heard nothing but good things about this man that did make a difference….*****
