NCHSAA Girls’s Tennis 2-A State Tournament Results – Final Day

MAIDEN’S HUFFMAN TAKES SINGLES CROWN, LAKE NORMAN CHARTER TEAM WINS DOUBLES

CARY — Zoe Huffman of Maiden claimed the singles championship in convincing fashion on Saturday in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 2-A women’s tennis championships at the Cary Tennis Center.

Huffman took the state title with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Lauren Bush of Lake Norman Charter, after winning an earlier semifinal match Saturday morning of Rachel Rice of Durham School of the Arts 6-0, 6-4.

Olivia Archer and Hannah Archer of Lake Norman Charter made it two state championships in a row, as the Archers swept past Kayla Honeycutt and Kathyrn Rusher of Salisbury in straight sets at love.

Lake Norman Charter had two singles players and two doubles teams qualify for the state championships, and all advanced to Saturday semifinals with Bush in singles and the victorious doubles team getting to the finals.
