Friday Night Finish:The Regular Season is Over/Bring on the Playoffs!!!

The battle is over and the victory is won…

Friday Night Finish, regular season edition for 2015 is over….It is finished…The playoffs are less than seven days away and what’s in your wallet…Don’t the tickets prices increase for the playoffs???

The time is now to forget about the old games and get ready for the new games, the lose and go home series and it all gets rolling next week on Friday the 13th….

This is going to be fun right?

Let’s start calculating on how many of our teams are in and how the enter…

Dudley will go in at (10-0), High Point Andrews at (10-0) and you have to think that those two teams have the best overall chances/shots to win NCHSAA State Titles…Page will hit the post-season at (9-1), Southern Guilford at (9-1), Southeast Guilford will check in at (8-2), Northern Guilford at (7-3), Southwest Guilford at (5-5), High Point Central at (5-5)…There you have 8 teams and they all look to get in you would have to feel that Dudley and High Point Andrews have a good shot to be home for the holidays…

Taking a glance at the teams that will not be in the playoffs this year we see Ragsdale, Northeast Guilford, Western Guilford, Grimsley and Smith out of the field for this season…Season done and time to turn in the gear…Turning in the gear is a sad thing, but you have to do it and move on to your next sport and if your next sport is football, time to hit the weight room for the off-season….

Just a bit curious to see if Northwest Guilford(7-3) and Eastern Guilford(5-5) can find a spot in the playoff field…

Northwest would be #4 in the final Piedmont Triad 4-A Final Standings….Vikings behind #1 East Forsyth, #2 Southwest Guilford and #3 High Point Central….With Eastern Guilford they are looking up at #1 Eastern Alamance, #2 Western Alamance, #3 Morehead and #4 Northern Guilford….Will there be any room for Eastern Guilford coming in at a #5 from the Mid-State 3-A?????

Most of these items will sort themselves out by NOON on Saturday and then the NCHSAA Football Playoff seedings and brackets will be available….

Southwest Guilford might just be the team of Shockazoola for 2015….Shockazoola for SWG….The have a sophomore QB over there in Jaren Rainey and this team is “On the Rise”…..

It has been a long time, if ever, that we have seen Northern Guilford with four regular season losses….NG has lost at least 4 key players to regular season injuries and maybe the four lost players precipitated the four losses on the field…Southern Guilford has given us reason to say “job well done” this season after losing their top man in Reggie Gallaspy, the Storm have maintained and are on their way to at least two home games in the playoffs with just one black mark/loss on their record and they may end at home for three weeks, we shall see….

SG at (9-1) and SWG at #2 in their conference, those are stories to write home about this season of 2015….Dudley took care of business and the Panthers were just three points shy of a perfect regular season, but that 14-12 loss by the Panthers to the Richmond County Raiders might have done the ‘Men from Lincoln Street’ a load of good…..It has been a sweet season for Page and the Pirates should be staring down the barrel of at least two home games in the playoffs and who knows, maybe three…..Looking to be a long playoff road for Northern this season, maybe their longest or even possibly their shortest journey in Nighthawk history, only time and your next opponent will tell….

Will we see that High Point Central at Southeast Guilford game in Round One of the playoffs this year? That’s what we had last season and is there a reason why this game should not be a re-do, at SEG again this year???

RB Connell Young from Dudley looks to be the Guilford County High School Football Player of the Year…You get a tie for Coach of the Year, with Coach Kevin Gillespie from Page and Coach Eric Rainey, at Southwest Guilford, sharing the reins….If there was going to be a Rookie of the Year, that award might just go to Jaren Rainey, over at SWG….The kid missed a couple of games, but still…..

As we shut her down for tonight/this early morning, we have to say that Southwest Guilford has exploded and that young QB is paving the way and we are still scratching our heads, wondering if NWG will get in the playoff field…

There are still a few key points that we had planned to share, but those have left us for now and we will try and bring those back in focus tomorrow/later today….

Will our teams be going to Charlotte? Will our men hit the road headed toward Raleigh?? Do we see any of our teams home for the duration of the playoffs???

We have lost at least 5 teams and it may end up that number may climb to 7 schools, but all is still hanging in the balance and we need to go over and spend some time hanging in the hammock……

See you later on today and, “Bring on those Brackets”…..Who is the Bracket Buster?

  1. Jeff and Joe Bostic were at Smith High School tonight. The NFL presented a gold football to all the high schools in the country that produced a Super Bowl winning player.

  2. Walter H. and SEG is lucky the county redrew the district so that some of Dudley’s traditional students would be bussed to SEG only for sports purposes.

Joe Sirera implies that the three called back TDs were a result of clear penalties. I would like for him to elaborate on which were clear.

*Interesting, I do not see much Page propagation. Reign on the top was short like leprechauns….

  3. Ragsdale 1-10. Dang. Never thought I would see that. Need all the new coaches to get some kids to come out for football again. Lost too many good coaches. Go to work boys. 1-10 is not us. Congrats to all the teams that made the playoffs and to SWG on much improvement.

  4. Whoa Teddy bear we @ Walter H. Give credit where credit is due Dudley whipped up on us pretty good so where are ur comments coming from? When was an 8-2 record bad we lost to the top teams in 4A and we’ll go back to the drawing board and hope to make a run in the playoffs, u must be a leprechaun or couch potato with no life just wanna bash PHS and TEDDY bear please don’t compare us to SE…

  5. Playoffs is the reward for all the hard work put into this season . Wishing good luck to all the local teams. Wishing for a rematch of Dudley over SE Guilford in these playoff brackets

  6. Southeast coach Fritz Hessenthaler made a statement after the game.

Hessenthaler is unhappy about the Guilford County Schools rules that allow students to enroll at and compete in athletics for schools outside their attendance zone.

“It’s not his fault that he can take 14 starters from other places in the county,” Hessenthaler said of Dudley’s Davis. “That’s not his fault.

I have to say I agree, I know a few kids that should be at Page but because of that Academy stuff they can play at Dudley. It isn’t fair to the other Guilford county schools.

  7. I personally know some good kids that started playing high school football at Dudley but finished at other Guilford County schools. Not gonna cry about it,just move on and wish them well.it happens.Get over it. NOBODY is at Dudley illegally .

  8. SE might want want to research WHY the Academy at Dudley was started in the 1st place.I all ready know why but it may help others understand .Go check it yourself…or keep whining if you prefer

  9. Ross don’t be so fast as to say that about Dudley or any school. Whether you believe or not parents will lie to get their kids at certain schools. It is the athletic department’s responsibility to make sure the student is legal. I know for a fact that a student/athlete that graduated last year from Dudley lived in the SE district. He and his parents lived with his uncle but yet he went to Dudley. How you might ask? The parents signed over guardianship to someone in the Dudley district. If you go by the GCS rules that’s not legal. The student is to attend where he lives/sleeps if there is a divorce/separation he has to pick one or other. Just telling what I know and what is fact.

  10. We are all facing a mess this morning and it is time to rev up the motor and focus on the playoffs…

We are not going to help our cause calling each low lifes and talking about what a disgrace our coaches are…

Not a good way to be going into the playoffs…

There is plenty of heat, but let’s have that remain among the coaches and I don’t think we can figure it all out here..

Dudley has had a great season and they have a strong program and we all look for them to make a strong run in the playoffs and Page has a great chance to make a statement themselves…Would love to see a Page-East Forsyth rematch somewhere down the line…

As far as the Dudley-SEG heat, I see it from a perspective where we are all on the same team at the end of they day and we have to pick each other up and not tear each other down…

The heat moves on and moves around the county and today is another day and a new day…

The way the County Athletics System works it is what it is and we have to work with it…I loved the old neighborhood schools as much as the next guy but the way the county does things now it is a thing of the past and we will have to deal with it until the County decides to go back and make changes and for whatever insight I have, I don’t see them going back…

Time to deal with it for my part we will continue to support our coaches and teams as much as we can…

At the end of the day they have children and families and there are more people involved in the whole process than just those of us that read these comments…

With the social media pipelines, these words and other words from other sites travel well beyond the printed page…

Don’t like to see the hate and and will try to go out of our way to make sure it doesn’t breed here…

As the coaches would tell us, “we have to be playoff focused and playoff ready” and it is really time to get playoff tested….

For now we will sit around and wait on those playoff brackets and try to keep “Peace in the Valley”….

Sometimes “Peace in the Valley” is not as much fun as the “knock down drag out overload”, but it is much safer…

If a team is allowed to have and play players outside their district coaches are going to be mad, who wouldn’t be, but if the County is going to allow you have players and play them even if the come in from outside the district, who wouldn’t play have them on the team and play them???

You’ve got a two-edged sword and there are two sides to the story and the County will have to look closer at this one day and if they don’t we will just have to keep moving forward…

The County School is the big brother and they have opened up this wild and crazy Pandora’s Box….

They say is much worse over in Forsyth County and down in Charlotte, but don’t know all of the details…

WS Carver could well be in some deep trouble for playing a kid out of the Quality Education Center…

    Time for the Playoff Focus…

  11. Probably a good time here for “We Shall Chill in the Valley”…..

Let’s band together and get ready to hit those playoff brackets…
