Southwest Guilford’s Jaren Rainey Wins 11th Bob Sawyer Award of 2015 Season

ROTARY PRESENTS 11TH BOB SAWYER AWARD FOR 2015 SEASON GUILFORD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Greensboro, NC – The Rotary Club of Greensboro has selected the 11th winner of the 2015 Bob Sawyer Guilford County Football Player of the Week. The award will be presented at the Rotary Meeting on Wednesday, November 11th at 12:40 pm. The meeting takes place at the Terrace at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex.

Southwest vs. Northwest Guilford (35-0)

Quarterback Jaren Rainey led another impressive victory against No. 7 Northwest Guilford, scoring three touchdowns and logging 216 yards passing and 89 yards rushing, including a rushing touchdown and 2-point conversion that gave his team the victory. The Cowboys improve their record to 4-6 and looked to maintain their momentum last week against High Point Central.

His coach, Eric Rainey, remarks that Jaren has shown great maturity for a sophomore both on and off the field and has been a commanding leader for their players.

Info on Award: The Bob Sawyer Award began in the fall of 2013 for Guilford County High School football players. This award is in honor of long-time coach, athletic director and Greensboro Rotarian, Bob Sawyer, who remains a legend in North Carolina high school athletics. Leading Grimsley High School’s swimming teams to 16 consecutive championships and an unprecedented 15 straight NCHSAA state titles, Sawyer was inducted into the East Carolina University Hall of Fame in 1974, and was enshrined in the NC High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1995.
