REMEMBERING #44 BOBBY HEDRICK
Former Elon running back Bobby Hedrick ’83 passed away at the age of 57 on Sunday, Nov. 1. Hedrick is one of five Elon football players to have had his number retired and helped the maroon and gold capture the 1980 NAIA National Championship. In that title game against Northeastern Oklahoma, Hedrick ran for 186 yards. He finished his career with 5,604 rushing yards. At the time, only Tony Dorsett (Pitt) had rushed for more yards in all of college football. Hedrick ran for 60 touchdowns and holds program records for career rushing yards, as well as carry marks for a game, season and career. His 5,604 rushing yards are more than 1,200 yards more than any other Elon running back has ever amassed. He was inducted into the Elon Sports Hall of Fame in 1990. A sticker with his #44 will don the Elon helmets for the remainder of the season.

ELON VS. MAINE
The Phoenix and Black Bears have met just once, a 24-17 Maine victory at Elon’s Rhodes Stadium last November.

OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN
The Phoenix football squad elected two captains for the 2015 season. Serving as captain for the second year in a row is senior defensive back Miles Williams. He will be joined by first-year captain, junior linebacker John Silas.

Each week the Phoenix will also name a game-week captain and are listed below:

• at Wake Forest – B.J. Bennett
• at Gardner-Webb – Rob Sullivan
• vs. North Carolina A&T – Corey Mitchell
• vs. Towson – Ikenna Nwokeji
• at New Hampshire – Chris Blair
• at Richmond – Warren Messer
• vs. James Madison – David Petroni
• at Stony Brook – Julius Moore
• vs. William & Mary – Chris Jones
• at Maine – Alex Higgins

ELON VISITS MAINE FOR FINAL ROAD TEST OF THE YEAR
• The trek to Maine will mark the furthest north that Elon has ever travelled for a football game
• In last season’s game, Elon’s Adrian McClendon returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown on the third play of the game
• Three Phoenix players had double-digit tackle games against the Black Bears last year, including John Silas (11) and Chris Blair (10)
• Maine controlled the ball for 40:45 of last year’s contest

NOTES FROM LAST GAME
• Elon out-gained William & Mary in total yardage 388-371
• Connor Christiansen threw for a career-high 310 yards, the first 300+ yard passing game for an Elon quarterback in 18 games
• Corey Mitchell made a game-high 12 tackles, giving hime six double-digit tackle efforts for the year and bringing his season total to 100
• Alexander Dawson blocked a field goal, the third W&M field goal to be blocked by the Phoenix in two games
• William & Mary saw its streak of games with a 100-yard rusher snapped at 13

RUN IT IN
Against William & Mary, freshman running back Malcolm Summers (Mebane, N.C.) ran for two touchdowns. It marked the first time since Oct. 5, 2013 at Furman that an Elon running back ran for two or more scores (Karl Bostick, 2).

SNAPPING A STREAK
William & Mary entered its game at Elon having had a running back run for 100 or more yards in 13 consecutive games. The Phoenix did not allow a 100-yard rusher against the Tribe (Mikal Abdul-Saboor with 12-71, Kendell Anderson with 14-68) to snap that streak.
