Greensboro, NC – –

This evening the Ragsdale Tigers made the trip to SE Guilford for the much anticipated season opener for both teams. The long offseason is now over, as these two programs were ready to face off and get their seasons started off on the right foot. In front of a frenzied home-standing crowd, the Tigers and Falcons battled down to the end in a great high school basketball game.

The opening period would see both teams trade buckets back and forth, with the visiting Tigers gaining a five point advantage. In the second quarter, Ragsdale held the Falcons scoreless the entire quarter until a long three pointer end of the 3rd period. The 4th and final period was basically a dead heat. With the score tied at 48 with 45 seconds remaining in the game, Brian Free found a wide open Greyson Collins for the go-ahead 3-pointer. The Tigers would stay in front and never again surrender the lead, holding on to get a very solid opening night victory by the final score of 52-47.

Ragsdale was led by Junior Greyson Collins’ career high 29 points and Senior Shawn Stringfellow with 9 points. B. Wright led the Falcons with 18 points and three 3-pointers. J. Watkins also scored 10 points for the Falcons.
