High School Football Saturday Morning rewind:We have 5 Guilford County Football Teams practicing on Thanksgiving Morning and how about that???

We are going to have five(5) Guilford County football teams practicing on Thanksgiving morning and that says a lot for the quality of our football here in the 336, if you ask me, but nobody did, so we will proceed and we had one team, High Point Christian Academy, win a State Title last night, 34-6 over Wake Christian for the NCISAA DII Title and congrats to those Cougars and now we will hit some names, numbers and links and might just go all over the board and maybe even a bit overboard, here on this Saturday morning and we have just completed the longest sports sentence in school history, with this opening…..

Some early numbers leaders and there will be more:
316:De’Shaun Taylor(High Point Christian Academy) with 256 yards passing and 60 rushing and 3 TD passes for his Cougars….
294:C.J. Freeman(Northern Guilford HS) with 294 rushing yards and 2 running TD’s on 31 carries…
256:Ray Knight(Southern Guilford HS) going 11-13 passing for 256 yards and 4 TD’s, all in the first half…
247:Will Jones(Page HS) with 247 passing yards and 2 TD’s…
178:Connell Young(Dudley HS) with 112 yards rushing and 66 receiving and 5 TD’s with 4 ground and one air…Almost had 5 TD’s in the first alone, but ended up with 4….
148:Kenyon Taylor(Southern Guilford HS) with 148 yards receiving and 2 TD’s…MORE numbers to be added in as we get them in…
107:Miles Timmons(Northern Guilford HS) with 107 passing yards on 6 completions and 1 TD….

From Friday night and as far as our local teams go this had to be the upset that got got people’s attention right quick with Page over previously unbeaten Wake Forest, 30-21 on the road, down East…Will Jones TD pass to Diondre Overton, Will Jones TD pass to Javon Leake, Elijah Diarrassuba TD and Harrison Kiser a 32-yard FG and you can read on those parts and more when you CLICK HERE for WRAL SportsFan.com’s HS OT…

Also down East, Northwest Guilford fell 35-20 to Fuquay-Varina, but NWG’s Tre Turner caught 3 TD passes from Caleb Homol and Turner now has 10 receptionS on the season and he might fast becoming a stronger football threat than he is a basketball threat, but we will learn about his basketball real soon, as the Vikings are scrimmaging hoops this morning and he should be there….Three TD receptions to close out the year, that is pretty impressive right there….CLICK HERE to read more on the NWG-FV game from HS OT….

Southern Guilford rolled right past Wilson Fike, as Fike barely got off of the bus and they were down 38-0 with Ray Knight throwing 4 first-half touchdown passes and read more on this large 45-0 SG Storm win, when you CLICK HERE for JP Mundy from the News and Record….
Southern Guilford #’s from Wyatt Smith with GreensboroSports.com:
256:Rayshawn Knight 11-13 256 yds, 4 TD, 1 INT
148:Kenyon Taylor 6 rec 148 yds, 2 TD

Dudley Panthers led by that effort from their runningback Connell Young with the 5 TD’s and just running over people on some carries with the 112 rush and 66 receive and are there any votes AGAINST Connell Young for the Guilford County High School Football Player of the Year??? That Dudley Defense has been “Super-Strong” in recent weeks giving 7 points to Page, 6 to Southeast Guilford, 0 to McDowell and 0 to Southwest Guilford and you have to think and feel that Dudley has a chance to pitch another shutout next week at home in Round Three of the playoffs….Dudley Defense may be coming up with their own brand, the “Dudley Defense” and they have been led by Nigel Peele and Zach Pressley….Read more on Dudley over the SWG Cowboys when

Just doing a little bit of jumping around, here is a good link on the Richmond County Raiders over Jack Britt….from HS OT and not sure of the Jack Britt nickname, could be the Jack Britt Terriers…

Photos from Northern Guilford-Asheboro when you CLICK HERE and coming in from the N&R….

Morgan Crotty who writes some for the Asheboro Courier-Tribune has the post on Northern Guilford-Asheboro coming in from the News and Record with 294 yards for C.J. Freeman and 2 TD’s, 107 yards on six completions for Nighthawk QB Miles Timmons and 2 INT’s for DB Tristen Simmons to pace NG..
CLICK HERE to catch the write-up from Morgan Crotty…..C.J. Freeman played last night in the Nighthawk victory, got up at 4:30am this morning with about 2 hours sleep and then his family drove to Raleigh, they boarded a plane there at RDU Airport for the flight to Wisconsin for C.J.’s official visit with the Badgers, as they face the Northwestern Wildcats at home today…A whirlwind tour/journey none-the-less…Yes, I guess and I must confess, never been on a road trip/business trip quite like that before….220 to Asheboro, run for 294, 85-40 to Raleigh and then on to Wisconsin and back, all in 24 hours, give or take a few minutes….Did you come here often??? No not really, haven’t been down a road like that one before….

*****Still looking for game notes/news on the High Point Andrews and High Point Christian games and seeing what we can procure from the HP Enterprise on-line and probably not much, but we will try….*****

  1. I would say Rayshawn Knight has done well at Southern, Jones has done a good job at Page. Hooker at Dudley is the best in the area. College recruiting supports that statement.
