RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University men’s basketball freshman Dainan Swoope has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday, Nov. 23.
Swoope scored a career-high and team-high 15 points in Elon’s 88-68 loss at No. 24-ranked Michigan on Monday, Nov. 16. The native of Kansas City, Kan., was 3-of-6 from behind the three-point line floor, while adding a rebound and an assist.
He also turned in a strong performance in a win against Belmont Abbey on Wednesday, Nov. 18, scoring 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting, dishing out three assists and grabbing a rebound. In a tough contest at Syracuse on Saturday, Nov. 21, Swoope had a team-high 12 points, grabbed three rebounds and had two assists in a 66-55 loss at the Carrier Dome.
Swoope has scored double digits in all four games this season and is second on the team in scoring at 12.3 points per contest.
The Phoenix returns to Alumni Gym on Thursday, Nov. 26, for the Battle 4 Atlantis Mainland Tournament. Elon opens the tournament against Mount St. Mary’s with tip time slated for 2:00 p.m. EST.
