Former Triad TV Sports Anchor(TV 45) Jim Conners has died at age 51

He was the co-host on the 10pm Carolina Sports Night on Time Warner Cable 14 with Mike Solarte for around 10 years and I remember seeing Jim Conners one night back when he worked in the Triad for TV 45 Sports while he was covering a high school football game over at Smith High School and it was a playoff game in fact and it was so cold that night up in the Ben L. Smith press box/band box with a band aid or two and Jim was wearing his Notre Dame Fighting Irish jacket and he always seemed like an Irishman after I saw him up there at the Claude Manzi Stadium on that COLD Friday night….Gone, but for not forgotten, Jim Conners has died at age 51 and Luke DeCock from the News and Observer in Raleigh has more….

A fixture on the Triangle sports scene for more than a decade, Time Warner Cable News sports director Jim Connors died Saturday after what his employer described as a “short and sudden illness.” Connors was 51.

A native Philadelphian and die-hard fan of the Eagles and other Philadelphia pro teams, Connors worked at television stations in New Bern and Winston-Salem(TV 45) before joining what was then called News 14 Carolina in 2002, where he was described by competitors and colleagues alike Sunday as “a pro’s pro.”

  1. Sad to hear so close to Thanksgiving and the Holiday Season….Prayers going out to his family and loved ones. Always enjoyed watching him on News 14 Friday Night Final. Times like these make you realize just how little sports or the everyday hustle of life really matters. In the end we all really need to focus on loving each other more and our relationships with God, Family, and Friends.
