Men’s Basketball Dunks Past Bridgewater, 74-58

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Joseph Gatling and Simeon Howard each scored a team-high 16 points as the Greensboro College men’s basketball team (1-4) defeated Bridgewater College (2-4) Monday, 74-58.

The two teams battled closely throughout the first 17 minutes, but the Eagles used an 8-0 run to establish their largest lead of the game at 26-16.

The Pride then pulled to within 28-22 following a 6-2 run over the final minute of the first half. Torrence Outing, Trevin Miller, and Gatling each scored a bucket during the run.

During the first 10 minutes of the second half, Greensboro outscored its opposition 30-11 to establish a 52-39 lead. Donavan Griffith helped fuel the run with four electric dunks, while Gatling and Howard also contributed multiple buckets.

David Leaman gave the Pride their largest lead of the game (19) with a free throw before the team went on to win 74-58.

“We had a shaky first half of play, but we were able to come up with some big stops to get the win,” Head Coach Bryan Galuski said. “I am happy with the adjustments that we made at the break, but we have to continue to get better.”

The Pride shot 55 percent (28-51) from the field while going 19-of-30 in the second half. Greensboro also outrebounded the Eagles 31-20.

Donavan Griffith joined Gatling and Howard in double figures scoring with 15. Gatling also had a team-high four assists while Howard led the way with nine boards.
