ELON, N.C. – The 2016 Elon Phoenix baseball schedule will feature 36 home games as well as 14 games against six teams that participated in the 2015 NCAA postseason. The 55-game regular-season slate gets underway on Friday, Feb. 19 with a 4 p.m. contest against Wright State.

Season ticket information for the 2016 season will be available in the coming weeks.

“Once again, we are excited about the upcoming season and the schedule that we have put together,” said Elon head coach Mike Kennedy. “We are so fortunate to be in a baseball-rich area that allows for a very good non-conference slate as well as the challenges that are presented within the CAA. I am especially excited about the numerous opportunities to play right here at Latham Park. Our fans will be treated to some great college baseball on a regular basis.”

Elon’s 2016 campaign will begin with a four-game series at Latham Park against Wright State. First pitch for opening day, Friday, Feb. 19, is scheduled for 4 p.m. The Phoenix and Raiders, who went 2-2 in the NCAA Tournament last year, will then play a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday and a 4 p.m. finale on Sunday.

Following a short trip to UNCG for a Feb. 23 game, Elon will host La Salle for three games Feb. 26-28.

The month of March will open with a visit to 2015 NCAA Regional participant East Carolina on the second. The Phoenix will play its next five contests at Latham Park, beginning with its annual Elon Invitational (March 4-6). In its tournament, Elon will host Bowling Green (March 4), Stony Brook (March 5) and Appalachian State (March 6). Stony Brook also participated in regional play last season. The Phoenix will then host Liberty on March 8 before welcoming The Citadel to Latham Park for a three-game series March 11-13.

After a trip to North Carolina (March 16), Elon will open up CAA action at home against the Tribe of William & Mary (March 18-20).

Elon’s final five games in March will see the Phoenix host High Point (March 22), visit NCAA Regional team UNCW (March 25-27) and host Wake Forest (March 29).

A five-game homestand will continue with a league series against regional squad College of Charleston (April 1-3) and a return trip from East Carolina (April 5).

The Phoenix will play its next four games away from home, starting with a midweek tilt at North Carolina A&T on April 6. Elon follows that with a trip to Boston for a CAA series at Northeastern (April 8-10).

Following a pair of midweek games at home with 2015 NCAA Regional participant NC State (April 12) and at Campbell (April 13), Elon will welcome in Towson for a three-game league set starting on April 15.

The Phoenix will conclude home-and-home series with High Point (April 19) and UNCG (April 20) ahead of a home CAA series with Hofstra (April 22-24).

After a four-game road swing with games at Wake Forest (April 27) and James Madison (April 29-May 1), the Phoenix will close the year by playing five of its final eight games at home. That stretch starts with a home game against N.C. A&T on May 4 before a three-game set at Delaware (May 6-8). The maroon and gold will then host Campbell on May 10 before a break for final exams. After the break, Elon welcomes in Richmond for a three-game non-conference series May 19-21 to close the regular season.

The top six teams in the CAA standings will advance to the league tournament in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The league showcase gets underway on Wednesday, May 25, and concludes on Saturday, May 28.
