The Cowboys of Southwest hosted city rivals T.W. Andrews tonight as the young season moves along.

Southwest has been in control winning 10 in a row over the Raiders, with their last loss to them coming back in December of 2009.

The Cowboys were looking to push the streak to 11 in a row while staying perfect on the season, while the Red Raiders were looking to get back up to .500 on the season.

The opening quarter started with sloppy and disorganized basketball with neither team registering a point until the 6:45 mark when Southwest took a 3-0 lead. Both teams continued to struggle from the field, but the Raiders eventually responded at 3-2, but another Cowboy 3 pointer made it 6-2.

From there however, the Cowboys returned to ice cold as the Raiders clawed their way back into it. High Point Andrews even took a 10-8 lead at the 4:04 point. From there it was only Southwest who managed
to scrap 3 more points in the frame to end the ugly first quarter up 11-10.

The second frame wasn’t much better, as the teams traded baskets. The Raiders once again were able to take a 14-13 lead at the 6:30 point. A couple of possessions later had the Cowboys regain the lead for good as they went on an 8-0 run to push it to 21-14. The momentum belonged to the home team as they started to pull away headed into the break at 32-18.

The third quarter was a better defensive effort by the Cowboys once again holding the visitors to single digits for the frame as the stanza ended at 48-25.

In the final frame the Cowboys pushed the margin to over 30 as the Cowboys’ bench chipped
battled and closed out the convincing 69-40 victory over their city rival Red Raiders.

Andrews was led by Rolan P with 14 points. Southwest was paced by Kam Langley with 20 pts, 8 Rebs, 5 Asts, and 3 Stls, and Keyshaun Langley with 18 pts, 5 Rebs, and 4 Stls.
