Greensboro, NC – –

After getting back into the win column last night over a very sound Grimsley Whirlies squad, the Ragsdale Tigers were right back in action. Tonight’s matchup pitted a familiar foe with the Western Guilford Hornets playing host to Ragsdale. These two teams hooked up just about a week ago, with Ragsdale winning in thrilling fashion in the final few seconds.

The opening period started out with Ragsdale scoring the first 7 points of the game. However, the Hornets came right back and closed the gap within a couple minutes. After one period, the home Hornets were up by two points. Western was on fire from the field in the second quarter. The Hornets were able to force a number of Tigers’ turnovers and turn those into easy baskets. All in all, Western would outscore Ragsdale by ten in the quarter, and take an eight point lead into the halftime break. Ragsdale would come out of the break with a renewed sense of urgency, and cut their deficit to only one point after the 3rd period. The final period was back and forth, with the lead changing hands numerous times. With 1.8 seconds remaining, the Hornets drew up a full court out of bounds play and executed it perfectly. They had a wide open look which would have tied the game and sent it to overtime, but the shot would not fall. Ragsdale would win the game by the final score of 64-61.

Ragsdale was led by Junior Kyle Watkins (22 points, 6 rebounds) and Senior Shawn Stringfellow (18 points, 10 rebounds). Western Guilford was led by Saul Pelcastre with 15 points.
