Jamestown, NC – –

Tonight the Ragsdale Tigers were looking to cap off a perfect week by winning their third game of the week. Their opponent would be the Falcons of Southeast Guilford High School. These two teams hooked up on opening night and played a very good ball game, with Ragsdale coming away with the five point win on the road. The Falcons were coming into tonight’s game on a high note, beating Southern Guilford at home in the previous game.

The opening period started out with Ragsdale scoring the first two baskets of the game. However, the Falcons came right back and closed the gap to one with a three point play. The Tigers would push back ahead solid inside play from Shawn Stringfellow and Eric Williams, and forge a six point advantage after the first period. In the second period, Ragsdale ramped up their swarming, pressure defenses to force the Falcons into a number of turnovers early. However, the Falcons were able to push back in the final two minutes by creating some turnovers of their own, which led to easy baskets in transition. A double digit lead for Ragsdale quickly evaporated to just a couple possessions at the halftime break. Pressure defense and forcing turnovers was the name of the game again for the Tigers in the third period, holding the Falcons to just nine points. Greyson Collins, Kyle Watkins and Brian Free all contributed from beyond the three point line in the quarter. The final quarter was essentially a dead heat, with Ragsdale leading by as much as 20 points and coming away with the win in front of the home-standing crowd by the final score of 70-55.

Ragsdale was led by Juniors Kyle Watkins (22 points, 6 rebounds), Greyson Collins (14 points) and Brian Free (9 points) along with Senior Shawn Stringfellow’s second double-double in a row (11 points, 10 rebounds). SE Guilford was led by Isaiah Tate with 13 points.
