GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College head men’s lacrosse coach Tom Carmean announced the selection of seniors Adam Fiore (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca), Daniel Hughey (Cary, N.C./Athens Drive), Connor Manning (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca)and Andy McDonagh (Whitmore Lake, Mich./Dexter) as the Quakers’ team captains for the 2016 campaign. The captains were selected by Guilford’s coaching staff at the conclusion of the team’s fall campaign.

Fiore, a 6-2, 190-pound attackman, also captained the team during his injury-shortened season. Despite missing the Quakers’ final 10 games of the season, Fiore led Guilford’s scorers for the third straight season with 37 points on 15 goals and 22 assists. The sport management major was a Second Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) honoree in 2014 and enters his final campaign ranked ninth among the Quakers’ career scoring leaders with 157 points in 37 contests. He has 72 career goals and 85 assists, the fifth-highest total in school history.

Hughey, a 6-3, 185-pound midfielder, has been a fixture in the Quakers’ lineup in each of his three seasons. He is coming off a season in which he ranked fourth on the team in goals (18) and sixth in points (24). In 47 career appearances, Hughey has 79 points on 58 goals and 21 assists. He is a business administration major and minors in economics.

Manning, a 6-0, 180-pound defenseman, has served as Guilford’s top face-off man in each of his three seasons. He has topped the team in ground balls in each of the past two years, including in 2015 when he ranked fifth in the ODAC with a career-high 73 pickups. Manning has won nearly 52 percent of his faceoffs in his 45 career contests and has 169 ground balls. He is a criminal justice major with minors in history and business.

McDonagh, a 6-0, 170-pound midfielder, is coming off his best season in which he compiled 13 points on 10 goals and three assists in 15 games as a reserve attackman. He has appeared in 43 career matches, mostly in a reserve role, and has 18 goals, five assists and 23 points in that time. McDonagh is an economics major with an accounting minor.

Carmean’s Quakers are coming off a 10-6 season that included the team’s first ODAC Tournament appearance. Guilford opens the 2016 season February 17 at Methodist University in the first of three straight road contests. The Quakers’ home opener is March 2 versus Elizabethtown (Pa.) College and the team opens ODAC play 10 days later at Virginia Wesleyan College.
