Jamestown, NC – –

Tonight the Ragsdale Tigers were looking to cap off their second consecutive perfect week by winning their fifth consecutive game. Their opponent tonight would be the Sauras of South Stokes High School. South Stokes comes into tonight’s game having beaten Walkertown on Monday night, and then dropping a close contest against East Surry on Wednesday night.

The opening period started out with Ragsdale scoring the first three baskets of the game to take a quick 6-0 lead. However, the Sauras came right back with two baskets of their own to cut the Tigers lead to just one point. At that point, Ragsdale would then go on a 10-0 run to end the quarter and finish with a lead of 16-5 at the end of one period.

The offensive attack for the Tigers would effectively end after the first quarter, as South Stokes was able to force multiple turnovers and turn them into transition baskets, scoring 16 points of their own in the second quarter to just 8 for Ragsdale. At the break, however, the Tigers held a 24-21 advantage.

The second half was highlighted by strong defensive play on both ends, and was a struggle at the offensive end for both teams. South Stokes was able to tie the game after the third quarter at 32 a piece.

Neither team scored the first three minutes of the final period, and all of the Sauras points came from the free throw line. Ragsdale was only able to muster up five points of their own in the last period, as South Stokes claimed a very impressive road victory and end Ragsdale’s four game winning streak, by the final score of 43-37.
