HPU Men’s Basketball Game At Winthrop Selected For ESPNU Telecast

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men’s basketball team’s game at Big South rival Winthrop will air live on ESPNU on Thursday, January 14.

The contest between the Panthers and Eagles will tip at 7 p.m. inside the Winthrop Coliseum in Rock Hill, S.C. Kevin Fitzgerald (play-by-play) and Adrian Branch (color commentary) will have the call.

High Point has won seven of the past eight meetings in the series, including the last three contests at Winthrop.

HPU swept a pair of thrilling matchups against the Eagles last season, including a 90-87, double overtime win in Rock Hill on Jan. 3, 2015, and a 73-72 victory in High Point on Feb. 11. In the February contest, High Point erased a 10-point deficit with 2:28 to play behind a career-best 34 points from John Brown.

The Jan. 14 game will mark HPU’s third appearance on the ESPN Family of Networks in 2015-16. HPU also played at Georgia (Nov. 25) on ESPNU and at NC State (Dec. 16) on ESPN3. In addition this season, High Point will host Coastal Carolina (Jan. 16) and Charleston Southern (Feb. 13) in contests broadcast on ESPN3.

High Point’s games at Coastal Carolina (Feb. 11) and Longwood (Feb. 18) are candidates to be picked up by ESPNU, as well as the Feb. 25 return matchup with Winthrop inside the Millis Center.

HPU returns to action Thursday (Dec. 31) with a contest vs. Radford (7 p.m.) in Millis.
