Greensboro College Men’s Basketball Routs Bobcats in Guilford Holiday Classic

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Six players scored in double figures as the Pride men’s basketball team routed the Bobcats of the University of Pittsburg at Greensburg 101-62 Wednesday in the Pride’s final game of the Guilford College Holiday Classic.

The Bobcats (6-4) held a narrow advantage early in the first period before the Pride (5-4) used a 12-3 run to establish a 27-19 lead. Christopher Corbin and Parris Scales each accounted for four points during the run, while Donavan Griffith and Torrenece Outing each tallied one bucket.

The Pride then led by as many as 13 points before going into the break with a 45-35 lead.

Greensboro opened the second half on a 20-7 run to extend its margin to 25 points before going on to win big.

“I am really proud of the way our guys closed out the Holiday Classic,” Head Coach Bryan Galuski said. “I really feel that our team is maturing and coming together. The staff and I are also really excited to see how we turn the corner heading into the New Year.”

Howard and Scales each recorded a double-double. Howard finished with a team-high 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Scales recorded his second consecutive double-double, finishing with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Zedric Barnett (13), Derrick Smith (10), Corbin (10), and Griffith (15) also recorded double-figure points.

The Pride outrebounded the Bobcats 57-36, while connecting on 48 percent (40-82) of its shots from the field.

After the contest, Parris Scales and Donavan Griffith were named to the All-Classic Tournament Team.
