Diondre Overton(Page High School) chooses Clemson Tigers over N.C. State Wolfpack

Diondre Overton, from Page High School, has committed to play his college football for the Clemson Tigers….Overton chose the Tigers over the N.C. State Wolfpack and now Overton will take his football game to the team that is playing for the NCAA National Championship on January 11, vs. the Crimson Tide of Alabama…

Overton becomes another local Greensboro high school football player to choose Clemson, joining senior defensive tackle D.J. Reader from Grimsley and freshman redshirt linebacker Chris Register, from Dudley High School, both currently at Clemson…Clemson also had former Ben L. Smith linemen Joe Bostic and Jeff Bostic play there back in the 70’s and both of the Bostics went on to become All-ACC selections while with the Clemson Tigers….
(Some very good football connections between Greensboro and Clemson, South Carolina….

Overton, a first-team HSXtra All-Area selection at wide receiver, finished his senior year with 81 receptions for 1,273 yards and 15 TDs. As a defensive back he tied for third in the state in interceptions, with 11, as the Pirates reached the NCHSAA Class 4-AA championship game. The 6-foot-5, 195-pound athlete was a second-team All-Area selection in 2014 after his first season of high school football.

*****Could be a toss-up over whether Overton plays wide receiver or defensive back for Clemson…He has very impressive numbers on both sides of the ball…Diondre Overton played for Coach Kevin Gillespie at Page High School…*****
