We missed this former teacher/coach’s passing and he will be missed:Coach John Bailey(Guilford HS/Northwest Guilford HS)

*****I remember Coach Bailey well back in his days as a coach and PE teacher at the old Guilford High School back in the 60’s and then later on at Northwest Guilford High School in the 70’s and 80’s….Always in good shape and with a real short haircut which gave him the look of a Marine, which he was….Good man and well thought of in the Guilford College/Northwest Guilford Communities….*****
(Wish we could have posted this sooner, but just got an inquiry, did our research and learned of his passing yesterday/Tuesday and we thank him in memory, for his military and educational service to his country and his community.)

JOHN CROOKS BAILEY, III, 75, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015..

He was a 1964 graduate of Guilford College. He began his thirty plus years teaching career at Guilford School (now Western Guilford) and was an Assistant Principal and athletic coach at Northwest Guilford Junior and Senior High Schools. He was selected as Assistant Principal of the Year by his peers.

He served 30 years in the United States Marine Corps Reserves on Active Duty and Reserve time. He participated in four Vietnam Campaigns as an Infantry Officer and was awarded the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars for Valor.
