“It was great to get back together as a team,” head coach Jon Torpey said. “Today was a good start to get to where we want to be at the end of the year.”

The Purple & White return a solid nucleus from the 2015 squad that earned the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance on the heels of a Southern Conference Tournament title.

Senior Dan Lomas, a third-year captain and two-time conference offensive player of the year, was excited to start the season.

“It was great to be back out here with the guys,” Lomas said after the first practice. “It’s awesome to be here with no school to worry about so we can focus on lacrosse and get ready for the upcoming season.”

HPU opens its tough non-conference at Duke on Feb. 12 at 7:00 p.m. before its first home contest on Feb. 16 at 4:00 p.m. against Boston University.
