They say the St. Louis Rams are moving back to Los Angeles and it brings back some memories

St. Louis Rams going back to Los Angeles where they will be the Los Angeles Rams again, or at least I they will and it sure brings back some memories of those LA Rams teams and players of days gone by…

Names like QB Roman Gabriel, Merlin Olsen, Phil Olsen, David ‘Deacon’ Jones, Jack Pardee, Jack Snow, Jack Youngblood, Jim Youngblood, Jay Youngblood, Mark Youngblood,(might want to scrap those last two Youngbloods, they were with Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling), but you had Jerome Bettis with the LA Rams, Kevin Greene played for the LA Rams, Ron Jaworski played for the LA Rams, and you have to make sure you say LA Rams, because for a while they had the LA Raiders too…

But back in the day, I loved those old LA Rams teams coached by George Allen….Other neat names included Fred Dryer, remember him, he was an actor after football was over and not too many fans or people talk about Fred Dryer any more, but he was one heck of a defensive end and at one time, part of that Fearsome Foursome…

Remember Rosy Grier, he went on to TV fame too, like playing a piano on the Danny Thomas Show…Rosy Grier, Merlin Olsen, David ‘Deacon’ Jones and Fred Dryer and I think that was at least one key incarnation of the ‘Fearsome Foursome’……Lamar Lundy was the main ingredient on the original ‘Fearsome Foursome’ and Fred Dryer joined later on with the Rams and fearsome play came after this 1960’s group, but I was right on with Olsen, Grier and Deacon Jones…

I got this feeling that Jack ‘Hacksaw’ Reynolds played for the LA Rams too, but he have had played for another NFL team or two, as well….Hacksaw Reynolds was a real man’s man back in the days of the hard-hitting NFL….

All of my names up here so far have been without the aid of Wikipedia, bu hey I may go over there later on….No Wiki yet, but I remember another LA Ram runningback Wendell Tyler and I think he was from UCLA….

Some other later on names I picked up with a Wiki visit included Ram head coach Chuck Knox, QB Vince Ferragamo(led them to the Super Bowl) and star RB Eric Dickerson…..Jackie Slater is another name that they threw out there and he was one of the most durable and most talented offensive linemen in NFL history…..
