High Point University Women’s Golf Announces Spring Schedule

HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University women’s head golf coach Vici Pate Flesher announced the team’s 2016 spring schedule Thursday.

HPU will tee it up for six events during the 2016 spring slate. The Purple & White will open their season in South Carolina and continue throughout the southeast with tournaments set in Mississippi and Florida.

The squad will tee off its spring campaign on February 14 in a tri-match versus Big South competitors Gardner-Webb and Radford. The day match will be held at the Windermere Country Club in Blythwood, S.C.

The Panthers will then travel to Kiawah Island, S.C., on February 29 to March 2 for their first appearance at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate. The three-day tournament will be hosted by the College of Charleston at the Osprey and Oak Point Golf Courses.

After competing in the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate, the women will continue to Hattiesburg, Miss. to compete in the Golden Eagle Invitational. The two-day tournament hosted by the University of Southern Mississippi at Hattiesburg Country Club will begin on March 7 with a 36-hole circuit.

On March 19, the squad will continue to Hilton Head, S.C. to make a second consecutive appearance at the Low County Intercollegiate, hosted by Wofford College. The two-day tournament will be hosted at Moss Creek Country Club. Last season, the women finished the contest fourth out of 15 teams with an overall two-round combined score of 626.

The Purple & White will then travel to Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. to compete in the Bearcats Spring Classic. The three-day tournament will begin on March 25 at the Mission Inn Resort.

The Panthers will wrap up their season on April 11-13 at the Big South Championship hosted at the DeBordieu Club in Georgetown, S.C. HPU will serve as tournament host for the event.
