Game Update:

Opponent: Wake Tech CC (1/28/16)

Result: Lost 80-77

Overall Record: 6-14
Conference Record: 1-8

Key Performers: BJ McKeever (East Forsyth HS) 19 pts, 5 reb, 3 assists, 4 steals; Carmoni Marks (Western Guilford HS) 18 pts, 7 reb, 5 assists; Chris Pompey (Central Davidson HS) 17 pts, 6 reb;
Yazid Laury (Eastern Guilford HS) 15 pts, 11 reb.

Comments: GTCC went on a 7-0 run over the last 1:30 of the first half to narrow the Wake Tech lead to 38-35 at the break. WT stretched the lead out to 61-50 with 9:33 remaining before the Titans began chipping away. Broderic Mosley hit a 3 to begin the run, and BJ McKeever and Chris Pompey scored 20 of the final 24 points for GTCC. A driving layup buy McKeever gave the Titans the lead, 74-73, with 2:35 to play. After the teams exchanged a basket and free throws, the Titans had two driving attempts roll off the rim in the final 40 seconds. WT free throws with 7 seconds remaining put them up 80-77, and the final attempt by the Titans was unsuccessful.

The next game for GTCC is Saturday, 1/30 when they host defending National Champion Richard Bland College. Start time is 3:00.
