The Cowboys of Southwest hosted the Bobcats of Glenn tonight. Glenn came into tonight looking to rebound following a loss to Ragsdale, while the Cowboys were looking to stay perfect on the season and maintain control in Conference play.

In their earlier match-up this month, Southwest overcame sloppy and sluggish play on both sides of the ball for a tough road victory. Glenn wanted to get out of the 4 way tie at the bottom of the Piedmont Triad 4A.

Just nine seconds into game action the Cowboys were on the board going up 2-0. Eerily similar to the game previous between the schools the game turned sloppy for a minute or so until the Bobcats got on the board and tied the game up. From that point the game took a frantic pace with both teams scoring on each possession. Southwest would take the lead, then Glenn would tie it up. This pattern continued until Glenn scored 4 straight points to take their only lead of the night at 12-10 midway through the opening quarter. On the ensuing possession however, the Cowboys regained the led for good on the night at 13-12. After another defensive stop by the Cowboys, the teams traded single free-throws to make it 14-13. Southwest then went on a 10-0 blitz in the blink of an eye to make it 24-13. With under a minute to play the Bobcats responded with a 3 pointer, but from there the last 35 seconds of the frame was another blitz of three straight 3 pointers by the Cowboys to put a charge in the team and gym as the final swish was at the buzzer making it 32-16.

The frenetic pace continued as the margin began to balloon over 20 points in favor of the hosts. The lead peaked at 56-26 with 2:50 to play in the half. The final 2:30 was owned by the Bobcats this time though, as they ended the half on a 7-0 run to make the halftime tally 60-39.

The second half was similar to the first half with the game going up and down as the lead once again expanded to over 30, as it was just too much Cowboys for the Bobcats. Southwest held on for a convincing 20th straight victory on the year, winning 107-76.

Glenn falls to 5-13 overall and 1-4 in Conference play. Southwest improves to 20-0 overall and 6-0 in the Conference. Glenn was led by Rachard Daniels’ game high 32 points.

Southwest once again had an extremely balanced attack with everyone getting on the board. Leading the way were; Keyshaun Langley with (23, 7 Asts, 3 Rebs, 2 Stls), Kameron Langley with (21, 10 Rebs, 7 Asts, 3 Stls), Orlando Smith (18, 4 Asts, 3 Stls, 3 Rebs), and Kaymon Mitchell with (15, 4 Rebs, 2 Asts).
