Carolina Panthers’ LB Shaq Thompson was once an outfielder in the Boston Red Sox organization

He was drafted right out of high school and signed by the Boston Red Sox and he played the outfield in the Gulf Coast League the Summer before he entered college at Washington…The Carolina Panthers’ linebacker Shaq Thompson played professional baseball before he was on his way to Super Bowl 50…

Shaq is named for basketball player Shaquille O’Neal, but he was a baseball player back in his day and this kid Thompson is only 21 years old, as he prepares to possibly start in a Super Bowl football game…

Thompson did not have much success with the baseball, as went 0-39, with 37 strikeouts, but he did draw 8 walks and he showed outstanding athleticism and that is why the Red Sox signed him….

The Panthers probably don’t have to worry about Shaq returning to baseball, but he did have that brief run with the Boston Red Sox back in the Summer of 2012 and maybe his mom wishes Shaq would go back to baseball because this is how she saw her son’s baseball move back in 2012….

His mother, Patty, thought her own dream might come true of seeing nher son avoid the sometimes harsh and brutal contact that comes with a career in the National Football League. Shaq’s older brother Syd’Quan had his NFL career halted for good by an Achilles injury in just his second pro season with the Broncos.

*****Shaq Thompson’s brother played for the Broncos of all people/teams…..*****
