HPU Men’s track wraps up day one at ETSU

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The High Point University men’s track & field team completed day one competition at the ETSU Invitational on Friday.

In the triple jump, senior Will Narramore placed 14th out of 36 participants with a mark of 14.33m (47-0.25). The jump was just .06m off his indoor personal best set last weekend at the PSU National.

Senior Dennis Crawford advanced to the semifinals of the 60m hurdles by finishing ninth out of 48 athletes in the preliminary round of the event (8.49 seconds). He improved his time to 8.36 seconds in the semis, but missed the final by .11 seconds.

In the 60m dash preliminaries, freshman Sean Banda put together a strong 25th-place showing out of 137 competitors in the event. Banda’s time of 7.04 seconds matched his best time of the season. Fellow freshman Brad Kanney placed 112th in 7.48 seconds.

In throws action, freshman Britton Mann placed 33rd in the weight throw with a mark of 12.47m (40-11).

Junior Pat Irwin is making his debut in the heptathlon and is currently 10th through four events with 2244 points.

The Panthers remain at ETSU for day two of the Buccaneer Invitational on Saturday.
