College Indoor Track and Field Results – Guilford’s Evans Breaks School’s 400 Meter Record at Vince Brown Invitational

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Guilford College’s Trent Evans (Winston-Salem, N.C./R.J. Reynolds) broke the school’s 400 meter run record as the Quakers participated in the Vince Brown Invitational at Christopher Newport University. With some Division I schools in the meet, the meet featured mostly Division III schools with many Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) foes in the field.

Evans earned a tenth-place finish overall in the 400 meter run with a time of 51.76 seconds, .35 second ahead of the previous record. The time was the fourth-best Division III time and the second-best ODAC time. Evans also claimed 22nd in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.61 seconds.

Lucas Prillaman was not far behind Evans, placing 16th overall in the 400 meter run with a time of 53.09 seconds.

Josephus Mitchell (Pfafftown, N.C./Reagan) claimed the top Division III time in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.02 seconds, claiming 16th place. Seven times were only .05 seconds ahead of Mitchell, who just missed the 60 meter dash finals by .03 seconds.

Rebecca Reyna (Liberty, N.C./Southern Alamance) led the women with 29th-place finish in the mile run with a time of 5:53.50. The time is the eighth-fastest in school history.

Tess Styrk took second in her 400 meter run heat, 41st overall, with a time of 1:10.31. Styrk was .61 seconds off from claiming the heat victory.
