College Swimming Results – Guilford 10th After Two Days of ODAC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College’s women’s swimming team sits in 10th place with 62 points after Saturday’s competition at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships. The men’s and women’s teams have competed 23 events.

Defending meet champion Washington and Lee University built on its opening-round lead and has 698.50 points after Saturday. Emory & Henry College retained second place with 444 points, 99.5 points ahead of third-place Randolph-Macon College (344.50).

Guilford scored its points thanks from its performance in two relays. The Quakers’ 200-yard medley relay placed eighth in two minutes, 19.89 seconds to account for 22 points. The eighth-place team consisted of Kate Nunke, Isabel Gutierrez, Nina Troy and Veronica O’Neill. The same four women comprised the 800 freestyle relay, which placed ninth in 10:06.81.

Gutierrez placed 19th in the 200 freestyle in 2:16.15, eight spots ahead of Nunke (2:34.96). She also had Guilford’s top time in the 100 breaststroke (1:23.67), which was 22nd overall. Troy placed one spot behind Gutierrez with a 1:24.09. Peri Thomson completed the course in 2:11.77, good for 30th place.
Gutierrez touched in 1:17.54 in the 100 backstroke, tops on the team and 25th-fastest overall. She placed two spots ahead of Nunke (1:19.21) and three in front of Nunke (1:26.20).

The third and final day of ODAC competition is Sunday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, beginning with preliminary races at 10:00 a.m.
